Building Bridges Is Our Passion

Medical-Affairs

There are around 2.500 bridges in Hamburg. Surprisingly more bridges than Venice and Amsterdam together. At Medical-Affairs I am passionate about building bridges in a different meaning. Certainly, the perspective of a life science professional is likely to be different from medical doctors or engineers. Consequently, I combine the knowledge of more than two decades in the pharmaceutical industry and med-tech companies with the vision how a digital future will be beneficial for all stakeholders. In Hamburg – in Germany – in Europe!

Dr. Tanja Nowak started her career as a PhD student with the Siemens company in Erlangen, Germany. There she contributed the basic research to create a long-term implantable glucose sensor. After being granted the Marie-Curie-Fellowship by the European Union, she spend a further two years researching in Japan, deepening her knowledge at Kumamoto University while working on the ground-breaking development of a subcutaneous implantable sensor.

Once back in Germany Dr. Nowak consequently followed her path in this field via pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline. She was responible for the clinical marketing of various products in the sectors of endocrinology, lung-health, pain management and gastroenterology.

In 2009, she came to Hamburg as the Director of Clinical Marketing at Given Imaging, engaging in an early stage telemedical device for minimally invasive endoscopy. Since then she has been active and focused on this field, consequently driving the success of SBCE and CCE. Dr. Nowak contributed to milestones like the ESGE-Guidelines for Pillcam Colonoscopy in 2012. Continously she sucessfully writes and publishes articles and papers, most recently for the  Annals Of Translational Medicine in 2017. Dr. Nowak is regularly invited to conferences and workshops. Recently she has been honored as Keynote Speaker for the workshops of the Future Of Minimally Invasive Endoscopy in Glasgow, 2018.

Expertise

Lifescience is a vast field, due to that one must focus on a limited number of subjects to be acknowledged as a true expert. I was already fascinated by minimally invasive technical devices for disease treatment at a very early stage in my career. Up to today I spend more than a decade in the field of capsule endoscopy. According to my experience it is not enough to just release a product, as soon as a technonology is ready to launch. The true issue is about closing the gap in between early adaptors and the early majority.

It is important to offer early stage marketing material to embed innovations in daily routine. Guidelines, detailed patients profiles and pathways as well as a dedicated role management are essential for the breakthrough of any innovation.

Medical Affairs will support you!

  • To develop and execute your clinical marketing strategy and programs for EMEA.
  • To outline opportunities to expand clinical application of your product.
  • To develop relationships with customers and KOL and provide ongoing clinical support to drive adoption if you whish.
  • Advice your company to comply to GDPR and MDR (Post Market Surveillance)

Optionally I create and deliver clinical product-related presentations, seminars and educational programs, provide clinical and customer input to internal teams as it related to the use of products and positioning with key customer groups.
